Pointman Armor by AlexJJessup Pointman Armor by AlexJJessup
I always liked the juggernaut from CoD, but I fealt it was a little to "easy" of a solution, as it was basically just an EOD suit bulked up with some plates. I wanted to do something like that here, but designed to match the look of my nvg sets and to feel lighter and more real in a sense. The idea is that one guy in a squad wears this, and is the guy to kick in a door and enter the room first.

Hope you like it!

Idea and drawing is amazing, stunning in fact, I guess training would be needed for him to move at least kind of freely in it :D

Extremely smart and cool concept.

I love how the rifle clip slides new clips forward, that's really cool as a concept!

Also, this is general a smart idea since the pointman always risks the first shot! Also, in general the armor is in general tough for the heavy hitting soldiers.

The US Army could use a designer like you!

I question the wisdom of placing grenades, lethal or otherwise, on the front of the body

Common misconception is that grenades can explode from being shot. They can't detonate from a bullet.

Now that's a guy that's really prepared for eliminating the enemy by using flanking maneuvers. I love the design of that mask too, he could scare some enemy soldiers and they would scream first before even getting a chance to shoot back. lol :D

I was the point man for my team, operating in the southern green zone, Helmand Province, Afghanistan. FYI to a comment I just saw: you want to keep equipment around your mid section, 1. To evenly distribute the weight. 2. If you step on a bomb with more than 5 lbs of explosives in it, boom, there goes everything below your knee. Keep those 40mm rounds around your waist, don't want to blast your buddys too.

Interesting design. Despite possible functionality issues, you have a terrific idea. I'm a former Marine Corps, infantry rifleman, and would like to se some this put into use... assuming it's not issued to the Army first, then given to the Corps after its been broken 2 or 3 times. And not to bust your balls, but for future refrence, and I'm not sure if someone mentioned this in another comment; your grenades should be 40mm HEDP rounds (high explosive, duel purpose) and would be black with gold tips (blue ammunition is for training/non lethal) And they are shot using the M203 grenade launcher, not the 320. Keep up the designs, i think you could be on to something. If you enjoy constructive criticism, hit me up for a "professional" opinion.

I'm not sure how practical it would be, but I kind of like the concept of medieval armour being rejuvenated, somehow. :-)

This design looks awesome. But it does seem a bit bulky for a point man to be completely honest. As I understand it, the point man's job is to lead the patrol, which would be very slow going if he's wearing this kit. I would probably recommend this to the door breacher, but I'm not a soldier, yet, so this is just my opinion. I like how this looks, by the way, it's almost practical. Just not for a point man in my opinion. I'd like to use this in a story, when/if it becomes relevant, but I think it's awesome. I've also seen a some other pieces of yours and a personal favorite of mine is the special forces Helmet/HUD design you did.

as a marine i can say, that even with a really heavy suit of armor, that is the last job i would ever sign up for.. being a designated first man in would be a death sentence. normally a squad or fire team will alternate the duty between members. It is a cool concept however. keep up the good work.
and just remember the last thing any marine or soldier wants is more pounds.

Thanks for input! I know it's only half-realistic at best. I'm just doing entertainment design, not actual product design. :)

Yep it already exists, it's just not widely used or known about. I like the idea of it and thought it would fit well with the rest if this guy's gear!

Unless this guy's shooting SouthPaw, he's going to have a hard time reloading quickly using this thing. :-P

Just poking! I understand it's concept, but as an owner of the magazine magazine, I can say pulling one with your trigger hand is a slow and cumbersome process.

Love your Style, and hope you keep this series going.

Yeah, it's positioned incorrectly for real-life use, but I needed to put it there to make it visible on the design. I would wear it on the left irl. :P

Whoa ! Now those are some sick skillz ! Darn you are good, BTW wouldn´t it be easy for the hostile forces in the said room he is going inside of, to shoot the M67 frag grenades hes carrying on a really exposed parte of his LBE and MOLLE gear set ?

Thanks! Sure, they could, but the way grenades are designed, they don't explode from being shot. With today's existing grenades it's next to impossible to cause it to detonate in any way other than using the primer as designed.

Thanks haha, I do entertainment design mostly. When doing product design, I'm generally involved with early stage designs that get modified as function dictates.

Do you know anyone who is an engineer? They might be able to help, it could probably net you a few thousand if you can nail the design down.

This design is actually pretty practical well except the part about the sliding magazine storage it will probably hold about two of them max and dont you think its a bad idea to mount the smoke grenades in the front?

Eh true but ill still say its mostlikely not the best spot to place it as its one o the main areas you might get hit. So..... A wll placed bullet may cause a unwanted smoke screen? Shoot and run XD

its very impractical. you would have extremely limited mobility, you would be highly encumbered, you would have a heatstroke trying to walk down the street much less run to an objective or rush an enemy. there is no way you could afford this in the bulk needed to supply entire marine corps. also marine corps doesnt have m320 we have a m203 and a m32
side note: point man isnt always the one who kicks in the door. once you start clearing buildings, especially if your in a situation like fallujah, its who the hell ever is there first. and finally the guy who kicks in the door should not be the first one to enter a building/room unless he is under fire and entering that building is his only way of obtaining cover.
